Ibutamoren is a powerful, long-acting, orally active, selective, and non-peptide ghrelin receptor agonist and growth hormone secretagogue that mimics the endogenous hormone ghrelin’s growth hormone-stimulating effect.

MK-677 (also known as ibutamoren) stimulates growth hormone (GH) secretion and raises insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) (IGF-1). Ibutamoren stimulates the production of growth hormone by imitating the action of the hormone ghrelin and attaching to one of the brain’s ghrelin receptors (GHSR). Activated GHSR increases the release of growth hormones from the brain. Clinical investigations have focused exclusively on ibutamoren’s effects on appetite, and like with ghrelin, ibutamoren stimulates it. GHSR is present in areas of the brain that are involved in the regulation of appetite, pleasure, mood, biological rhythms, memory, and cognition.
